Ok, so I usually wait a week for another update, but this thought has me eager to script away!! "GO BACK TO AFRICA" they like to say. I have only experienced that phrase once, but I seem to hear it way too often, least from the mouth of caucasions & moreso from the lips of the African/Afro/Black-American, whichever it is they choose to call themself. I find it hilarious though, yes I do! They say go back to a place that technically is rightfully theirs also, telling us to leave a land they DO NOT OWN and probably never will. Interestingly I am yet to hear a black or African say to a white person..."go back to Russia, Germany, Portugal, Ireland..." or wherever it is your ancestors arrived from.... THEY TOO HAVE HERITAGE and came from No apologies to whomever I may offend but listen... this soil we walk on was stolen, violently taken and abruptly changed...but we are all here now, a land of many nations, it is called that for a reason, we all make up the ongoing history. Do not sit here and cry that immigrants are taking jobs...those jobs sit under your noses for yrs, but government support seems sweeter (right or wrong?) and so you take that instead...then when other cultures come in and work hard to provide for a family and better their lives compared to what they may have experienced in their native land, you degrade them with your tongue and arogant measures, never be upset that someone is willing to work HARDER...it should be motivation...& black people stop saying the white man this, the white man that...if it is so detremental to you...take what the white man has to offer, build an empire and better your people (make any sense??) then maybe some will realize we indeed are not 1/8th human beings. smh, such nonsense. And to the next person who tells one of my fellow Africans to GO BACK HOME...sit and think were your original home is! Let's be smart!

Word... you speak tight(or should i say "write"...dunno), but you got to look at this issue from another perspective. Lets say you were in your native African country and you constantly see foreigners immigrating in tremendous amounts into the country,some of them illegally,evading the tax laws and enjoying the health care benefits,how would you feel? Yeah we know America is nobody's land, but the citizens pay taxes for health care and illegal foreigners don't. so when a white dude blurts out "go back to Africa!" I don't trip, cos some people do deserve to go back to Africa or Mexico or wherever...

i know for me its less about immigration but just people not being open to other cultures and what is different, that is what bothers me...i love all cultures but ive noticed that being african, its the african-americans who have the most to say and usually know the least. Ironic

No one has ever told me directly to go back to africa( I'ud probably "Jet Li" his ass or somthing...)but sometimes i feel their pain; they follow role models that dont expect them to work a 9-5 job, they have a sort of "lost identity," and from nowhere, african immigrants are coming to their country to become Doctors lawyers etc...
i have to totally agree with you @Futuristic_chi...i too am of Nigerian descent, raised both here and east London, and when others feel uncomfortable with Africans (as much as i hate to categorize) it is usually because of jobs, schooling & careers...It's almost as if they cannot believe that Africans have the capability...and when they see we do & do not hesitate (grab & work with what we can)...it causes insecurities & challenges others are not willing to fight for...they will complain, but not work for it...
Heard those words quite alot of times even though Im white, and I reply. I wish I could. there's nothing like the life of a white brat in Africa =) lol

I also grew up in east london....in a town where, whites (tho living on white soil) where also asked to go back to where they came from....Indians being tormented and being told to go back home...Turkish people being hated on...middle easterners, australians...trust me I have seen it all, its not just africans...the same way there is black on black hate, there of course is white on white as there is black on white hate....we live in a revolving world...when a race of ppl have grown up hearing certain things, its human nature to spit back the same comment to the next person they see from that race (lets not lie to ourselves)...but you have pointed out the issue yourself...its a new era, and folks are still narrow-minded...that is the issue indeed!

mostly, I believe its just that people are afraid of what they're not familiar with.. it's quite natural. but it's just plain wrong when it goes racist. and why is it racist? probably cause they have some bad experience from people of a certain culture. for example,

Because Americans have first priority over american resources (EDUCATION,jobs,healthcare etc) just as chinese over china resources therefore you need to stop flooding their countries .

You are certainly right education is key. People really need to look into history but you can't blame them the schools don't go into that type of history at all. This is a blog and yes opinions is always what wants to be heard, but downgrading someone country and saying disrespectful comments is not called for at all. If you going to use the internet to get information I feel as though you should use it properly and go into depth on the subject at hand. Because as I can see there was only facts given but nothing else but downgrading comments. And we still aren't just talking about Nigeria here, there are many other countries as well in Africa...such as the one that were named and they too deal with "Go back to Africa"

It's easy for u to call Nigerians stupid b/c of what you see and hear in the news about some of the stupid actions of the Nigerian gov't. But ur wrong to say that Nigerians don't have brains. If that were the case, why is it that so many Nigerians come to the USA and other Western nations and become successful? As for the topic at hand. I have also heard some Americans (black AND caucasian) say GO BACK TO AFRICA. I think it's mainly out of ignorance and frustration. In reference to the black americans (not all): for the ones who say those kinds of things, they are usually the lazy ones who sit and complain about how the "white man" is holding/keeping them down. Instead of getting up and working, they allow someone to keep them from being successful. Africans know that no one can keep u from being successful. You have to go for it and work at it. I just laugh when Americans say go back to africa, especially the black ones. I just look at them and think, "at least I have a homeland to return to".

Bri...are you for real? Africans have as much right to be in the US as you do. Since the Puritans invaded this land, gave the Native Americans smallpox and raped their women, this country has pretty much been one of immigrants. So who's to define American anyway? Last time I checked, there were only a few Natives left in this country to actually complain about us taking their resources.
By the way, what resources? Many immigrants are doing the jobs you don't want, and the legal ones pay taxes and shit without enjoying a lot of the benefits that most citizens have. Education? Well, if upped your game instead of complaining, you wouldn't have to worry about Africans taking your spot. Trust me, Americans would rather have an American on that level. But if there are none, that certainly isn't our problem.
Nigerians are missing brains? Really? The Census Bureau and AsianNation.org say that African immigrants and their children have higher levels of post-secondary education than any ethnic group. (By the way, many of the African immigrants they're talking about are Nigerian.) The reason I even mention AsianNation.org is because it's the Asians admitting that Africans are smarter than them. I think you need to come up with a new excuse for Nigeria's failures--which, by the way, unless you have lived in Nigeria, you know nothing about.
If Nigerians and other Africans were so dumb, then you wouldn't feel threatened in the first place.
"Strange accents"? You have got to be kidding me. Chances are, you probably have a strange accent too. Don't think so? If you're from the North, go to the South. If you live on the East Coast, try the West Coast. People in New Jersey have strange accents to people like me (I've lived in Michigan for the past five years).
Invading the land? Ha. There are only a few million Africans that have even left the homeland. Nigeria has somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the US's total population. You could argue the same for the Indian and Chinese immigrants. It's only a few million out of like 2 billion. The majority of the population is still "American"...whatever the hell that means.
But all in all, I am actually amused by the statement "go back to Africa." If that's what makes you sleep at night to help you recover from the last 409 scam you were stupid enough to fall for, more power to you.
